The Top Knot

The blessed top knot. How would I get through my daily school life without you? Designed purely for ‘Casual Friday’, but now I am happy to announce that every day is my ‘Casual Friday’!

I am here writing this blog because I am beginning to familiarize myself with those lovely ‘going-back-to-school nerves’  and I find myself thinking about some worrying problems I may have to face “Do I look tanned enough for going back to school?”  or maybe “Hmmm, maybe I should get a new school bag, I’ve had this one since half-way through year 10!”   sometimes “Urgh, I hope Miss Simmens isn’t teaching me French this year” … “Maybe I should just add a little fake tan on my legs”. I have begun to realise that since going to a girls school it’s quite hard not to become self-aware or vain.

As some of you may know, I have reasonably long hair and this causes many problems during my lesson hours. As I am working, I constantly find my hair to be a distraction or irritation, however this  is not a blog of complaint or ‘desperation’. This blog is merely a solution to my problems, a solution that I am sure many of you have already figured out or will find useful in the many school (or work) days to come.  My solution is the Top Knot! A hair style that I have been using since the early days of year 9. I have formed an attachment to the hairstyle and I can no longer imagine my school days without it.

This hairstyle becomes even more useful during the summer when my hair gets hot and sticky and sticks to my neck – attractive image I have just described, I know. So, to maintain the wild hair from going where ever it pleases, I tie it up into the neat (or messy, depends on the amount of time given and whether access to a mirror is possible) and comfortable Top Knot.

Have Your Own Top Knot In 4 Simple Steps!

You Will Need:

1 (or 2) hairbands depending on thickness/length of hair

mirror (optional)

Steps:

1) Lean your head forwards so your head is near your knees, allowing your hair to swing freely

2) Gather your hear aroung the crown of your head, like your about to pull it into a pony tail

3) Twist your hair into sausage and twist into a bun.

4) Tie with hairband (use 2 if it is feeling loose)
